Sherif Kamel

Vice President, New Product Dvelopment at Southwire

Sherif Kamel has extensive experience in the field of electrical engineering and product development. Sherif currently holds the position of Vice President of New Product Development at Southwire Company, where they previously served as Senior Director and Technical Director. Prior to this, they worked at ABB as a Technical Manager, responsible for technology and design in the US High Voltage Cable Factory, as well as overseeing R&D activities and participating in industry standards committees and organizations. Kamel also held a role as Senior Principal at TE Connectivity, where they implemented the Lean Accelerated New Product Development process and provided mentoring and support to junior engineers. Sherif has experience as a Director of Engineering at Raycap Corporation, where they led new product development efforts and oversaw manufacturing and quality control. Earlier in their career, Kamel worked as a Product Manager at Tyco Electronics Corporation and as a Technical Support and Test Manager at Raychem Corporation - Tyco Electronics. Sherif began their career as a Researcher at the Research Institute of Hydro Quebec (IREQ), specializing in insulators pollution and HVDC wall busings performance.

Sherif Kamel completed their education in the field of Electrical Engineering, specializing in High Voltage. Sherif earned a Ph.D. from McGill University between 1987 and 1995. Prior to that, they obtained an M.Sc. degree from Alexandria University from 1982 to 1985. Their undergraduate studies were also at Alexandria University, where they received a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power from 1978 to 1982.
