In 2011, they worked as a Research Assistant/Analyst at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where they contributed to a research project on "Fearful Memories & Political Mobilization: Croatian Serbs & the Serbian Democratic Party."

From 2018 to 2019, Emily served as a Computer Science Instructor at Girls Who Code, teaching students fundamental concepts in computer science, web development, robotics, and data science. Emily also led and managed collaborative projects and facilitated communication among stakeholders.

Currently, they are employed at Sovrn as a Site Reliability Engineer II. Their main responsibilities include automating and troubleshooting systems at scale, managing AWS cloud and edge computing infrastructure, and provisioning with Terraform.

Emily Burak has a diverse education history. In 2010, they began their studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Emily completed their undergraduate studies in 2015.

After their undergraduate degree, Emily attended Flatiron School, where they furthered their education in the field of technology. In 2018, they completed a program in Full Stack Web Development. Following that, Emily pursued an Immersive Data Science program at Flatiron School and completed it in 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Emily obtained a certification in DataRobot Essentials from DataRobot in April 2020.
