Ami Patel

Software Technical Director at Space Works

Ami Patel has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Ami began their career in 2009 as a LARSS Summer Intern at the National Institute of Aerospace. In 2010 they were an LARSS Summer Intern at the NASA Langley Research Center, where they helped to develop educational material for the software "Vehicle Sketch Pad". From 2011 to 2012, they were a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Virginia. During this time, they also worked as a Co-op at Pratt & Whitney, where they conducted validation studies on in-house CFD code and utilized Matlab to develop a post-processing tool. From 2013 to 2021, they worked at Pratt & Whitney in various roles, including Staff Engineer, Aero Thermal Methods; Senior Aerothermal Engineer, Aero Thermal Methods; Senior Aerothermal Engineer, Aero Thermal Fluids; and Aerothermal Engineer, Aero Thermal Fluids. In 2021, they joined SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) as the Software Technical Director, Software Team Lead, and Senior Software Developer.

Ami Patel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2011, and then went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the same university in 2013.
