Head of Project Success at Spacehive

Tom Shakhli has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Tom started their career as a Business English Trainer at Deutsche Post World Net from 2004 to 2007. Tom then worked as an MEP Stagiaire at the European Parliament, where they managed an MEP's office, conducted research, and organized campaigns and events from January to July 2008. After that, they worked as a Consultant/Account Manager at Dods Parliamentary Communications, specializing in health and pharmaceutical clients, from August 2008 to July 2009.

In 2009, Tom worked as a Journalist for Honduras This Week, reporting on the 2009 presidential coup d'état and writing feature articles until July 2009. From 2011 to 2013, they served as a Policy and Projects Officer at the Employability Forum, managing the "Refugees into Schools" project and handling various responsibilities related to refugee employment and migrant integration.

From 2013 to 2017, Tom was the General Manager of Brixton Pound, the UK's first urban community/complementary currency. Tom'sachievements in this role include expanding the organization's social goals, generating revenue, and implementing innovative initiatives such as a local currency cash machine.

In 2014, Tom became a Fellow at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA) until 2016. Simultaneously, they worked as a Senior Policy Officer at the London Borough of Lambeth, leading the "Made in Lambeth" cooperative project to tackle community issues and bring tangible improvements to the borough.

From 2017 to 2019, Tom worked as a Freelance at Brake the Cycle, and in 2018, they served as a Partnership Activation Manager at Spacehive. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Project Success at Spacehive, where they lead a team supporting creators in improving their local areas and successfully raising funds for their projects using technology and human input.

Tom Shakhli has a diverse education history. Tom started their academic journey in 2001 at the University of Birmingham, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography until 2004. Afterward, in 2009, they enrolled at the University of Bath to pursue a Master of Arts in European Politics. During their time at Bath, they focused on subjects such as Migration, Integration, Identity, Transition to Democracy, and IR Theory. Additionally, in 2010, Tom studied European Politics at both Charles University and Università degli Studi di Siena, although the exact details of these programs are not provided. Later, in 2014, they attended the University of Cumbria to obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Leadership. Lastly, Tom obtained the TESOL certification from Trinity College London in August 2004.
