Hector Peinado is a prominent researcher and Group Leader at CNIO since January 2015, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of metastasis and the development of imaging techniques for predicting metastatic niches. Previously, over a decade at Weill Cornell Medicine, Peinado held several academic roles, including Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, where investigations centered on tumor-microenvironment interactions and strategies to monitor and block metastasis. Peinado's early research experience includes a postdoctoral position at Weill Cornell Medicine under Dr. Lyden, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, which followed a PhD in Biochemistry that studied the role of the Snail transcription factor in epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Peinado holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.
