José Carlos González Álvarez

José Carlos González Álvarez is a dedicated researcher currently serving as a PhD candidate at the CNIO - Spanish National Cancer Research Centre since November 2018, under the guidance of Dr. María A. Previously, José held positions as a Graduate Research Fellow at Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas de Madrid - CSIC, with Dr. Olivier Vincent as advisor, and as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at GENyO, where collaboration was with Prof. Pedro Medina Vico. José has also gained international experience as an Erasmus+ Summer Intern at the University of Oxford's Biochemistry Department, advised by Associate Prof. Jason Schnell, and participated in summer research with Prof. Christina Redfield at Oxford University. José's educational background includes a Master of Science in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Universidad de Granada. Additionally, José has experience in performing arts, having worked as an actor and singer with the "La Butaca Vacía" Theatre Group from 2010 to 2014.

The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre is a public institution of excellence committed to research, diagnosis and treatment for cancer. The CNIO currently houses 22 Research Groups, organised in 7 Scientific Programmes, plus 5 Clinical Research Unit(s) that work closely with several hospitals.
