Jon (Jed) Chatterton has extensive experience in the field of ocular research and gene therapy. Jon (Jed) currently holds the position of Senior Director, Ocular Research at Spark Therapeutics, Inc., starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Ocular Research Leader at the same company from 2022 to 2023.
Before joining Spark Therapeutics, Inc., Jon founded RNAeye Consulting, LLC in 2021 and served as the Founder & Principal until 2022. Jon (Jed) also worked as the VP of Gene Therapy at Gemini Therapeutics from 2021 to 2021.
From 2018 to 2021, Jon was the Senior Director, Retinal Biology at Generation Bio, where they led a team in developing methods for delivering non-viral gene therapy vectors to the retina. Jon (Jed) also collaborated with other teams to enhance the ctLNP platform.
Prior to that, Jon worked as the Director, Ocular Therapeutic Biology at Precision BioSciences, Inc. from 2017 to 2018, where they led a team in expanding the therapeutic use of a novel gene editing platform for ophthalmic indications.
Jon has also co-founded RNAeye Therapeutics, LLC in 2015 and served as the Co-Founder and CSO until 2017. Before that, they worked as the Managing Consultant, Life Sciences at Navigant from 2014 to 2017.
Jon's career in the field of ocular research began at Alcon, a Novartis company, where they held various roles from 2004 to 2013. This includes Assistant Director, Glaucoma Research & External Disease Research from 2007 to 2013 and Principal Scientist, Glaucoma Research from 2004 to 2007. During their time at Alcon, they established a therapeutic siRNA program and led multiple teams in the development of siRNA-based treatments for various ocular conditions.
Jon started their career as a Research Scientist III / Project Leader at iTherX (formerly Immusol) from 2002 to 2004, where they led a team in the development and use of siRNA technology for target identification and validation in various diseases.
Jon (Jed) Chatterton obtained a degree in Biochemistry from UCLA, with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from 1979 to 1984, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from 1984 to 1991.
