Renuka Pillutla

Renuka Pillutla's work experience includes a range of roles and responsibilities in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Renuka is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of Development Sciences at Spark Therapeutics, where they lead a team responsible for the development of gene therapy drug candidates.

Prior to their current position, Renuka held several roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, including Vice President and Head of Translational Sciences. In this role, they were accountable for the strategic, technical, and operational aspects of clinical and translational biomarker technologies. Renuka also played a key role in driving the execution of translational strategies to advance precision medicine.

Before joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Renuka served as the Executive Director of Bioanalytical Sciences and Director of Bioanalytical Sciences - Biologics at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In these roles, they oversaw the development and validation of assays for PK and immunogenicity, as well as the analysis of non-clinical and clinical study samples.

Earlier in their career, Renuka worked as a Laboratory Director at Tandem Labs, where they led a team in the Biotechnology Services Division. Renuka was responsible for scientific oversight, strategic planning, and project management, and played a crucial role in the growth and success of the division.

Renuka also held positions at Centocor, Inc as a Senior Scientist, where they developed and validated analytical assays for biopharmaceutical release and stability testing, and at DGI Biotechnologies, Inc as a Scientist, where they designed insulin peptidomimetics for preclinical evaluation.

Renuka began their career as a Postdoctoral fellow at CABM, UMDNJ, where they conducted research on cloning and characterization of mammalian genes.

Overall, Renuka Pillutla has a wealth of experience in leading and managing teams, developing and validating assays, and driving the execution of translational strategies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Renuka Pillutla completed their SSC at Rosary High School from 1975 to 1981. Renuka then pursued a B.S in Biology and Chemistry at Osmania University from 1983 to 1986. Renuka furthered their education at the University of Poona from 1986 to 1988, earning an M.S in Biotechnology. Finally, they obtained their Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where they studied from 1989 to 1995.
