Sparsholt College Hampshire
Jonathan has near to 30 years’ experience in Further and Higher education and comes from a science background in Forestry and Woodland management. Jonathan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Foresters a Chartered Environmentalist and professional member of the Arboricultural Association. Prior to joining Sparsholt Jonathan worked as Head Forester on a private estate and as a forestry consultant covering the south west of England and has extensive industry connections.
Jonathan has an extensive knowledge of land based curriculum and quality and was for the last 11 years a QAA reviewer for Higher Education. Jonathan joined Sparsholt as a lecturer in forestry went on to develop HE provision in forestry and arboriculture and to manage the forestry section at the college before going on to manage the land based provision as Assistant Principal.
Joining Sparsholt in 1992 Jonathan has seen many changes and developments at the College and provides a valuable source of knowledge as to how the land based provision works within the College and the continued quality improvement of our courses for the benefit of our students.
Jonathan took up the post of Vice Principal in August 2020.

Sparsholt College Hampshire offers a truly unique experience at all levels - from 16+ full-time courses, through apprenticeships to degrees and postgraduate qualifications at our TEF Gold University Centre. Sparsholt is a leader in zoo management, uniquely delivering the DMZAA (Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals). The college is also proud to be home to Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time potting shed, five hectares dedicated to horticultural practice, plus tropical glasshouses and an established orchard.
