Jim Schmutz has extensive experience in leadership and management roles, spanning both the non-profit and corporate sectors. Jim currently serves as the President and CEO of Special Olympics Maryland since 2013, where they oversee a team of 24 staff members and supports thousands of volunteers to deliver sports training and competition to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Before that, they worked as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch from 2006 to 2009, providing financial services to non-profit organizations. Jim also has experience in corporate marketing and sponsorship, having served as the General Manager at Nelligan Sports Marketing from 2005 to 2006, where they managed a $1 million corporate marketing and sponsorship program for Athletics at Princeton University. Jim began their career at Special Olympics North America, serving as the Managing Director from 2002 to 2005 and the Vice President of Organizational Development from 2000 to 2002, leading a team to support program operations and secure financial resources for Special Olympics programs across North America. Jim Schmutz completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Business and French at Guilford College from 1979 to 1983. Prior to their undergraduate studies, Jim attended The Peddie School from 1976 to 1979, although the degree and field of study for this period are unknown.
