Markus Earley, LC has extensive experience in the field of lighting design and applications. Markus has worked as the Director of Lighting Design & Applications at Spectrum Lighting, Inc. since 2013, where they manage the new Spectrum Lighting Tech Center and provides lighting design and sales support nationally. Prior to that, Markus taught lighting design at Rhode Island School of Design for 10 years and worked as the Principal of earleylight, an architectural lighting design consultancy. Markus also served as the Manager of the Lightolier TechCenter and held teaching positions at Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design. Markus has completed major projects as the Director of the NYC Office at Lighting Design Collaborative Inc. and has worked at Howard Brandston Lighting Design Inc. as an Associate and Project Manager. Markus was also the first recipient of the Richard Kelly Grant, sponsored by the IESNA.
Markus Earley, LC has a strong educational background in the field of Interior Design. Markus obtained their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with Honors from Pratt Institute, where they studied from 1978 to 1982. In 1980, they also had the opportunity to study at DIS in Copenhagen, Denmark, although the degree and field of study for this program are not specified.
In addition to their formal education, Markus Earley has obtained a significant certification in the field of lighting. Markus became Lighting Certified (LC) in 1998 through the NCQLP (National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions), being among the first professionals to achieve this certification.
