Chief Space Officer at SPEE3D

Gary O. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Gary is currently working as the Chief Space Officer at SPEE3D since December 2021. Prior to this, from November 2019 to July 2021, they worked at CEVT (China Euro Vehicle Technology AB) as the Director of Architecture/Innovation/Fuel Cell Vehicles. From January 2017 to December 2019, they held the position of Director of Architecture/Programme Director/Next Generation CMA Vehicle Platform at CEVT.

Before their time at CEVT, Gary worked at Deakin University from 2013 to 2017 as the Project Leader and PhD Candidate. From 2010 to 2012, they served as a Vehicle Architect at AutoCRC, and from 2007 to 2009, they held the role of Specialist Engineer: Innovation at Holden. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2007, they worked at Autoliv as an Executive Engineer and CAE Group Leader.

Gary's career started in 1997 at Saab Automobile AB, where they worked as a Crash CAE/Test Expert and played a significant role in designing one of the safest cars at that time. At Holden, they held multiple roles from 1989 to 1997, including CAE Expert & Team Leader, CAE Engineer: Powertrain, and CAE Engineer: Vehicle Structure.

In 1987, Gary worked at Nissan Motor Corporation as a Product Development Engineer, where they were responsible for bumpers and seat structures. Gary introduced CAE to Nissan Australia for the first time and successfully addressed durability and vibration issues.

Gary's professional journey began in 1981 at Victorian Insulations, where they worked as a Sheetmetal Worker and Under Graduate until 1987.

Gary O. obtained a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from RMIT University. Gary began studying at the university in 1984 and completed their education in 1987.
