Leyte Winfield

Leyte Winfield serves as the Director of the Cosmetic Science Program and a Full Professor at Spelman College since August 2003, also holding several leadership roles including Co-Chair of the Internal Steering Committee for the Center of Excellence for Minority Women in STEM and Division Chair of Natural Science and Mathematics. Winfield has editorial experience as the Managing Editor for the Understanding Interventions Journal since August 2021, and previously contributed as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Michigan during a sabbatical from August 2017 to July 2018. Winfield's earlier career includes serving as a CAPT/Biochemist in the US Army from 1994 to 2009 and as a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Florida A&M University. Education achievements include a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of New Orleans, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Leadership from The Chicago School, and a BS in Chemistry from Dillard University.
