Obay Abadi has worked in the IT industry since 2017. In that time, they have held a variety of roles. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Linux System Engineer at SemiCode. Obay's responsibilities included analyzing and resolving problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software, monitoring the system daily and responding immediately to security or usability concerns, and performing data backups and disaster recovery operations. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as an Information Security Engineer at Nile Center for Technology Research, where they were responsible for penetration testing, hardening systems and network services, and investigating incidents. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as an Information Security Specialist at Electronic Banking Services Co. Ltd. (EBS), where they conducted penetration testing and security assessments for E-Payment Applications, performed security audits for EBS' internal systems, and conducted source code analysis and reengineering apps. Most recently, from 2021 to 2022, they worked as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst at spiderSilk. Obay's duties included working in an Advanced Threat Protection Center providing MSS & IR for a wide range of clients, investigating incidents, performing drill-downs, and analyzing logs using different tools and solutions, and creating reports and alerts and monitoring the production environment for advisories, IoCs, and unusual activity.

Obay Abadi obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems and Networks from Sudan University of Science and Technology between 2013 and 2017. Obay has since obtained three certifications, including Splunk 7.x Fundamentals from Splunk in October 2021, SWIFT Customer Security Controls Framework from SWIFT in June 2021, and Certified Payment Security Practitioner (CPSP) from Network Intelligence in January 2021.
