Pierre Wensel

Chief Science Officer, Founder at Spira

Pierre Wensel is the Chief Science Officer and Founder at Spira. Pierre previously worked as a Production Chemist II-III at BD from March 2006 to July 2009. While at BD, they were a member of a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team that worked in a fast-paced, FDA-regulated, cGMP environment to manufacture flow-cytometric products. Pierre also authored and audited SOPs, Work Instructions via Change Orders. Submitted Batch Records and CAPA-Planned Deviation Reports (PDR), Calibration and Maintenance Program, Equipment Transfer form documentation for QA/managerial approval. In 2008, they received the Special Recognition Achievement Award and met President for continuous improvement and developing cost-effective murine hybridoma cell-culture process that underwent installation qualification phase of validation (IQ/OQ/PQ). Pierre also designed fractional factorial optimization and troubleshooting experiments to increase specific growth and anti-CD3 MAb productivity rates via new trickle-bed bioreactor and media.

Pierre Wensel has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in Philosophy, a Doctor of Philosophy from Washington State University in Biological Systems Engineering, and a Master of Science from California State University, Long Beach in Engineering. Additionally, Wensel has certificates from City College of San Francisco in Biotechnology and from UCLA Extension in Business Management. Furthermore, Wensel has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (Bio-option) from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from Arizona State University.
