Jason Gu

Jason Gu has worked in the IT industry for over 13 years. Jason began their career in 2009 as a Senior Data Engineer at Genentech. In this role, they led a global team of data engineers to develop robust data pipelines in GCP for the purposes of transforming raw manufacturing data into features/hyper-parameters that can be used in data science models. Jason also developed multiple solutions to streamline/automate the deployment of compute clusters and key analytical frameworks, and managed all source control repositories.

In addition to their role as Senior Data Engineer, Jason also held the roles of Project/Resource Manager, Engineer II, Engineer I, and Associate Engineer at Genentech. As Project/Resource Manager, they centralized all efforts surrounding the CMC portfolio resource planning for a department consisting of ~750 employees. As Engineer II, they pioneered the use of a custom built natural language SMS-based software for retrieving data from various sources and deployed automated monitoring for critical process parameters and key performance indicators. As Engineer I, they developed and deployed an electronic laboratory ticket (ELT) system to replace the use of manual data entry/collection via paper tickets. As Associate Engineer, they engaged in day-to-day monitoring of large scale cell culture and recovery operations.

In 2022, Jason began working as the Head/Director of IT at Spire Health.

Jason Gu attended the University of California, Davis from 2005 to 2009 and earned a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering.
