Mary McCarthy

Mary McCarthy is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in optical communication and photonics. Currently serving as the Tailored Solutions Project Technical Lead at Spirent Communications since April 2024, Mary previously held significant roles at Lumentum, including Design Authority for Coherent Modules and Senior Engineer, from July 2019 to April 2024. Earlier positions include Senior Engineer at OCLARO and Research Fellow at Aston University. Notable experience also includes work at Ericsson and Tyndall National Institute, focusing on Electronic Dispersion Compensation of Optical Fiber Telecommunication links. Mary McCarthy holds a Ph.D. in Laser and Optical Engineering from Tyndall National Institute and a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College Cork.
