Nicky Wilson Ceng Miet

Principal Manufacturing Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems

Nicky Wilson CEng MIET has a diverse work experience starting with a university placement at The R&A in 2010. Later, they worked as a PhD researcher at the University of Strathclyde from 2013 to 2016, focusing on developing an interactive framework for designer-client communication in sports design. From 2017 to 2019, Nicky served as a Knowledge Exchange Associate at the University of Strathclyde. They then transitioned to Spirit AeroSystems, where they initially held the position of Senior Manufacturing Engineer from 2019 to 2022. Currently, Nicky is serving as the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, leading the digital manufacturing R&D team, focusing on projects related to PLM systems, connected factories, data architectures, and simulation models.

Nicky Wilson received a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Engineering Design from the Department of Design, Manufacturing, and Engineering Management at the University of Strathclyde from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2013, they obtained a Master's Degree in Sports Engineering from the same department. Additionally, in 2011, Nicky studied abroad for a semester in Sports Engineering at QUT (Queensland University of Technology).
