Who we are looking for…  

This is a casual matchday role that will provide core services, typically within the Adelaide  area (some matches may be at other venues in SA).  The initial focus is on delivering services to select AFLW matches.

The ideal candidate is a sports fan that appreciates the value that technology brings to the sporting arena and excited about using data within sport (especially within AFL).  You will be able to work confidently and independently in ‘high pressure’ situations, where time and accuracy are important.  

Main Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with pre-match equipment set-up and system preparation.
  • Operate the Sportable system during the match.
  • Pack-up post-match (& possibly assist with transport back to storage unit).
  • Assist with ball management (with Umpires) as required.
  • Liaise with Sportable staff, broadcaster, league officials and teams to ensure smooth and professional data delivery.
  • Prompt & regular communication to the Match Day Coordinator.
  • Additional post-match data tagging, analysis & reporting (if required).

Essential skills / experience:  

  • Degree in Sports Science, Sports Administration, Computer Science or similar.
  • Proven ability to work and solve problems in high pressure environments.
  • Able to follow processes with a high attention to detail.
  • Understanding of Australian sports, especially AFL.
  • Excellent verbal communication.
  • Comfortable working with technology and willing to learn new technical skills.
  • Commitment to working weekends and/or irregular hours.

Desirable skills / experience:  

  • Hands-on experience with other sports technologies (e.g., GPS, optical tracking video analysis).

  • Ability to troubleshoot technology-based problems.

  • Knowledge of performance analysis software for live coding of events.

  • Experience within an elite sport environment.

  • Exposure to live sports broadcast environments.

  • Operations Coordinator (or match-day equivalent).
