Bahar Pourbabaee

Bahar Pourbabaee has a diverse range of work experience, beginning in 2005 as a Control and Automation Engineer at Contronic Electronic & Control Systems Technology Company. In this role, they programmed PLCs and designed control systems for petrochemical industries. Bahar also checked piping and instrumentation diagrams for industrial processes.

From 2017 to 2019, Bahar worked as a Machine Learning Researcher at OMsignal, where they applied machine learning techniques to develop and enhance their products.

From 2019 to the present, Bahar has been working at Sportlogiq. Bahar started as a Machine Learning Researcher - Team Lead, where they developed descriptive and predictive models in different sports. Bahar used deep learning and time series analysis techniques to analyze and understand spatio-temporal data. Bahar focused on tasks such as detecting ball possession in soccer and predicting player trajectories.

Later, at Sportlogiq, Bahar became an AI Research Manager. In this role, they supported the technology leaders and CTO in identifying new innovation initiatives and contributed to short- and long-term innovation plans. Bahar mentored and led a technical team, hired new team members, and coached and mentored junior researchers. Bahar took the initiative to expand the company's product lines into a new sport and developed innovative systems and algorithms. Bahar also prepared documentation and grant proposals and oversaw academic collaborative projects with Canadian universities.

Before their work at Sportlogiq, Bahar worked at Concordia University as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. Bahar assisted in various research projects and taught courses in subjects such as modeling and analysis of physical systems, complex variable & partial differential equations, and principles of electrical engineering.
