Bettina Sutter

Director Product Management at Spread Group

Bettina Sutter is currently the Director of Product Management at Spread Group. Prior to that, they were a Product Manager at Skype from 2006 to 2011, and a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft from 2012 to 2014.

At Skype, Bettina was responsible for contact management and the user directory. Bettina also defined the product strategy and developed a long-term roadmap focused on user growth and customer retention. Bettina initiated and launched multiple projects aimed at helping people find their friends on Skype. These projects included adding and importing contacts, invitations, search, and authorizations. Bettina also helped integrate Facebook into Skype. In addition, they co-invented and launched a new call experience to help people connect even when they’re not online.

At Microsoft, Bettina was responsible for Skype on Windows Desktop. This included full product ownership, market strategy, new feature definition, and revenue accountability. Bettina led two agile development teams and was responsible for the product backlog, balancing initiatives to drive user growth, revenue, customer satisfaction, as well as quality and architectural improvements. Under their leadership, the Skype user base on Windows grew by 70%. Bettina introduced A/B testing and monthly release cycles to prove business impact and validate new functionality. Bettina also led several division-wide projects and initiatives.
