Kim McConnell

Senior Director, Care Navigation at Spring Health

Kim McConnell has extensive work experience in the healthcare and behavioral health sectors.

Kim is currently employed at Spring Health as the Director of Clinical Programs since February 2022. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing clinical programs within the organization.

From 2021 to 2022, Kim worked at AbleTo Inc. as a Client Solutions Manager. Here, they led the implementation of digital, coaching, and therapy products for new lines of business. Kim also collaborated with client teams to develop clinical referral pathways.

Prior to that, from 2019 to 2021, they served as the Accountable Care Collaborative SUD Administrator at the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF). In this position, they oversaw the design and implementation of behavioral health benefits expansion under Colorado's Medicaid plan. Kim also led multiple workgroups in conducting needs assessments and planning for the implementation of new services.

From 2014 to 2017, Kim was the Assessment and Treatment Services Division Director at Travis County. Here, they provided leadership and oversaw the day-to-day operations of four units. Kim also designed and delivered training programs on motivational interviewing and mental health.

From 2009 to 2014, they worked as an Affiliate Faculty member at St. Edward's University, where they taught courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling Program and the undergraduate School of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Kim also has experience working as a Psychologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs from 2008 to 2012, where they provided psychological services to veterans with complex mental health problems and substance use disorders.

Kim was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston from 2007 to 2008, working on a study on the use of Motivational Interviewing with medical trauma patients.

In 2006, they completed an internship at the Dallas Metropolitan Consortium, an APA-accredited program.

Prior to that, from 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Rio Grande Psychological Services Inc.

Throughout their career, Kim has demonstrated expertise in clinical program management, implementation of behavioral health services, training and education, and providing psychological services to diverse populations.

Kim McConnell holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from New Mexico State University. Prior to that, they obtained an M.S. in Rehabilitation Psychology and Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a B.A. in Psychology from the same institution. Furthermore, Kim McConnell is a Licensed Psychologist through the State of Colorado.
