Emelia Thygesen, LCMHC has a diverse work experience in the mental health field. Their educational journey began at the Manlius Pebble Hill School, where they obtained their high school diploma from 1989 to 2002. Emelia then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Creative Writing from SUNY Brockport, graduating in 2006.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Emelia enrolled in a semester abroad program at Griffith University in 2006. Emelia gained valuable international experience during their time at Griffith University, although they did not obtain a specific degree.

Emelia later pursued a Master of Science degree in Community Mental Health Counseling. Emelia first attended Union Institute & University in 2007 for counseling studies, and then transferred to Canisius College in 2009. Emelia completed their Master's degree in Community Mental Health Counseling at Canisius College in 2010.

In addition to their degrees, Emelia Thygesen has obtained various certifications to enhance their professional skills. Emelia became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor through the New York State Education Department in February 2015. Furthermore, they obtained the title of National Certified Counselor in October 2011 through the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Recently, Emelia achieved the titles of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in May 2022 through NCBLPC, and Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon through the Oregon Health Authority Addictions and Mental Health in January 2022.
