Welmoed Spahr

Welmoed Spahr is a seasoned publishing executive with extensive experience in the academic and professional publishing sectors. Currently serving as VP Publishing for Springer Nature Books Group since January 2019, Welmoed leads the Computer Science books program, overseeing the publication of 1,500 titles and 300 video publications annually. As Managing Director of Apress Media, LLC, a subsidiary of Springer Nature, strategic, editorial, and operational activities are under Welmoed's purview since November 2014. With a background that includes roles such as Executive Publisher for Behavioral Sciences and Senior Editor in Social Sciences at Springer Nature Group, and earlier positions at Kluwer Academic Publishers and Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory, Welmoed has a rich history in managing publishing programs and team leadership. Welmoed's academic qualifications include an LL.M in Law from the University of Amsterdam.
