Frank Torres

Principal Research Engineer at SRI International

Frank Torres has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Frank started as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Exxon Corporate Research in 1991. From there, they joined Xerox Research Centre of Canada in 1993 as a Member of Research Staff, focusing on modeling, simulation, experimental chemistry, and process engineering. In 1998, Frank moved to PARC, a Xerox Company, where they held various positions including Principal Engineer and Area Manager. Their responsibilities at PARC ranged from defining and executing research projects to managing and coaching individuals, bringing in new funding, and overseeing career development. In 2000, Frank also served as an Interim Engineering Manager at Gyricon Media Inc., a PARC spinout. Most recently, in 2023, they joined SRI International as a Principal Research Engineer. Throughout their career, Frank has demonstrated expertise in AI, machine learning, software engineering, physical science research, and prototype development.

Frank Torres earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, from 1980 to 1984. Frank later obtained their PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, where they studied from 1985 to 1990.
