Lead Engineer - Real Time Systems Delivery at SSEN Transmission

Chris Young CEng MIET has a strong background in electrical engineering and project management. Chris started their career as a High Voltage Electrical Fitter/Apprentice at Central Networks in 1999. Chris then worked at British Sugar as an Electrical Engineer, where they managed multiple projects and provided leadership in electrical engineering. Chris joined William Grant & Sons as a Project Engineer in 2014, where they were responsible for delivering electrical projects. In 2016, they joined Arcadis as a Senior Electrical Engineer. At Arcadis, they worked on various projects and ended their tenure in 2020. From 2016 to 2023, they also worked at SSE plc as a Real Time Systems Designer/Project Manager. Currently, Chris is working at SSEN Transmission as a Lead Engineer - Real Time Systems Delivery, a position they started in 2023. Throughout their experience, Chris has demonstrated strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a focus on project delivery.

Chris Young CEng MIET obtained their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first-class honors from Loughborough University from 2004 to 2007. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications including the Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management in 2018, the Certified Westermo WeOS Engineer certification from Westermo in 2018, the CompEx Ex12 Application Design Engineer certification in 2015, and the Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from NEBOSH in 2011. Chris is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
