Christopher Nelson, PMP has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Christopher joined SSR Mining Inc. in 2021 as the Chief Metallurgist. Prior to that, they worked at Barrick Gold Corporation from 2015 to 2021, starting as a Metallurgical Engineer and progressing to the role of Senior Metallurgist. At Barrick, they were involved in various projects including mine model validation, process improvement initiatives, and alternative sourcing of reagents. Christopher also supervised and trained a team of technicians.
Before joining Barrick, Christopher worked as a Lab Technician at C.A.M.P. at Montana Tech from 2011 to 2014. In this role, they conducted mineral processing studies and trained other students on sample preparation and testing. Christopher also gained experience in various mineral processing and testing methods.
Additionally, Christopher had internships at Comstock Mining Inc. in 2013 and 2014, where they gained hands-on experience in metallurgical engineering, including plant operation, data analysis, and project cost/benefit analysis.
Prior to their career in the mining industry, Christopher served in the US Army as an Operations Sergeant from 2005 to 2012.

Christopher Nelson, PMP completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Metallurgical & Material Science Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana. Prior to this, they obtained their High School Diploma from Middle Park High School. In terms of additional certifications, Christopher obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute in February 2019. Christopher also holds a certification in Fundamentals of Engineering - Engineer In Training. Additionally, Christopher has obtained various certifications related to inclusive teams, coaching culture, business ethics, high performance culture, and having difficult conversations, all from LinkedIn.
