Joseph Duffy has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Joseph started their career as a Staff Physician at HUMC in 1991 and worked there until 2008. Joseph also served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force Reserve from 1995 to 2005, participating in worldwide aeromedical evacuation and deployment medical readiness.
In 2017, Joseph became the Vice President - Chief Medical Officer of a large medical center and sister community hospital, where they were responsible for quality, compliance, patient safety, and clinical operations. Joseph later served as the Senior Vice President-Chief Medical Officer for St. Joseph's Health, overseeing various medical facilities and programs, including teaching programs and risk management. Joseph also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees during this time.
Joseph's recent work experience includes serving as the Medical Director of Hospice for Hackensack Meridian/St. Joseph's Health, providing outstanding hospice care in the Passaic County area. Joseph also currently holds positions as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Additionally, Joseph served as the Chairperson of the Board for the Mission Health Accountable Care Organization in 2020.
Joseph Duffy received their MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 1987. Joseph then completed a residency in St. Mary Hosp., Hoboken from 1988 to 1991 at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Additionally, they obtained a Flight Surgeon Basic degree in Aerospace Physiology and Medicine from the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine in 1995. Joseph also has certifications from the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine and the American Board of Family Medicine, and they are a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
