Melissa Shafer has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles. Melissa began their career at Hatfield Township as an Assistant to the Manager from November 2003 to October 2007. Melissa then moved to Chalfont Borough, where they served as the Borough Manager from October 2007 to March 2014. Following that, they worked as the Township Manager for Bethlehem Township from March 2014 to February 2018.

In 2018, Melissa joined St. Luke's University Health Network, initially as the AVP Government Relations & Community Affairs. In February 2021, they expanded their role within St. Luke's to become the Associate Vice President of Government & Community Relations.
