Maike Steinkamp is a curator at Neue Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, since March 2018, with responsibilities for post-1945 art and overseeing the Pietzsch collection. Previously, Maike worked as a scientific staff member, contributing to the inventory catalog of the Nationalgalerie from 1905-1945 and participating in the reopening activities of the Neue Nationalgalerie in summer 2021. Prior experience includes roles as a custodian at Stiftung Arp e.V. and as a scientific staff member at Universität Hamburg, where Maike engaged with research on degenerate art. Additional positions include visiting professor at Smith College and internships at Deutsches Historisches Museum and Kunst und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Maike holds a doctorate in art history from The University of Bonn and a master's degree in art history from the same institution, along with study experience at Università degli studi di Parma.
