Stand for the Silent (SFTS) is an anti-bullying organization founded in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2010. The organization was created by compassionate high school students who united to address the suffering and devastation that can be caused by bullying. It was founded with the support and encouragement of a local family, Kirk and Laura Smalley, whose 11-year-old son Ty took his own life after being subjected to relentless bullying over two years. 

The Smalleys made it their mission to do all they could to prevent a similar tragedy from happening to other families. SFTS programs address bullying by providing resources to students and families as part of the organization’s educational campaign. 

Since its inception, SFTS has attended over 6,000 schools and spoke to over 4 million students. Kirk and Laura’s dedication resulted in an invitation to the White House as part of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s national conference on bullying. 

The central lesson of the SFTS program is encapsulated in the motto “I AM SOMEBODY”.
