Shannon Mer

Shannon Mer has an extensive background in finance and auditing, currently serving as the Global Head of Trading Book and Global Head of Banking Book within the Treasury and Capital Management division at Standard Bank Group since November 2007. With expertise in liquidity and capital management, resource optimization, and balance sheet management, Shannon also leads capital and liquidity management for Investment Banking. Prior experience includes a role as Structured Finance Manager at Standard Bank, where transaction structuring and modeling were key responsibilities, and as Financial Services Audit Manager at KPMG, focusing on global treasuries. Shannon started the professional career as an Audit Senior at PKF and as an Associate Lecturer in Auditing and Taxation at the University of the Witwatersrand. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and an Honours Degree in Accounting and Taxation from the same university.
