Thayer Thompson

General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Standard International

Thayer Thompson has over 20 years of work experience. Thayer began their career in 1999 as an Associate in the Corporate Department at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. In 2004, they became a Senior Associate in the Corporate Department at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, where they represented clients in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, licensing, angel and venture capital financings, employment law, operations, and real estate matters. In 2008, they joined Virgin USA, Inc. as the Assistant General Counsel, managing the U.S. assets of Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group. In 2016, they became the General Counsel, Vice President of Commercial at Virgin Hotels, a lifestyle hotel management company operating under the Virgin Hotels brand. Thayer was a member of the senior executive team and drafted, negotiated, and closed equity and JVs for hotel financings, and HMAs with owners. In 2021, they joined Standard International, LLC as the General Counsel and Executive Vice President.

Thayer Thompson attended Duke University from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English. Thayer then attended the University of Minnesota Law School from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a Doctor of Law. Thayer is also certified by the New York State Bar Association.
