Michael Pfeffer

Michael Pfeffer is the Chief Information Officer at Stanford Health Care. Michael has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry.

Pfeffer began their career as a hospitalist physician at The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Michael then transitioned into health IT, joining the UCLA Health system in 2009 as the Assistant Vice Chancellor. In this role, they oversaw the implementation of the electronic health record system at UCLA.

In 2013, Pfeffer was recruited to be the Chief Information Officer at Stanford University School of Medicine. Michael has been in this role for 8 years, and has been instrumental in developing and implementing many of the school's digital initiatives.

Michael Pfeffer completed a Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Michael then completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at the same school. After that, they earned their MD in Medicine from Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Brown University.

Michael Pfeffer works with Vicki Tippett - Director, Advanced Practice Patient Care Services, Julia Erwin-Weiner - Associate VP, Medical Center Development, and Megan Atashroo - Director, Advanced Practice Cardiovascular Health. Their manager is David Entwistle, President & CEO.
