Jimmy Sladek has had a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Jimmy began their career as an Associate at Dentons, specializing in construction-related matters such as lease disputes, builders' lien claims, and construction litigation. Jimmy also handled contract drafting for various entities in the oil and gas industry, construction corporations, and municipalities.
After Dentons, Jimmy joined Baker Hughes, a GE company, where they held several roles. As the Region Legal and Labour & Employment Counsel for Canada, they managed all legal issues related to oilfield services, equipment, and digital solutions in Canada. Jimmy provided legal advice to operations, offered legal and compliance training to the leadership team, and nearly 1500 employees. Later, they became the Geomarket Legal Counsel for North America, responsible for strategic, environmental, corporate, compliance, litigation, IP, tax, labour, collections, and employment legal matters. Finally, they served as the Legal & Compliance Counsel for Canada, ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and providing legal training to the leadership team and nearly 2000 employees throughout Canada.
Most recently, Jimmy joined Pembina Pipeline Corporation as the Senior Legal Counsel for Major Litigation. Jimmy managed a $2 billion litigation portfolio and handled various major litigation matters for Pembina and its joint venture entities. Additionally, they acted as Pembina's Labour & Employment Counsel, overseeing labour and employment disputes, compliance investigations, policy drafting, labour negotiations, and more. Finally, they served as Pembina's Data Privacy Officer, leading the development of the data governance program and managing privacy-related issues.
Currently, Jimmy holds the position of Senior Director of Legal Operations at Staples Canada.
Jimmy Sladek attended the University of Calgary from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Military & Diplomatic History. Jimmy then pursued further education at the University of Alberta from 2006 to 2009, obtaining a JD degree in Law.
