Chase Davis has a wealth of experience in the media industry, with a focus on digital transformation and data journalism. Chase started their career as a reporter and data specialist at the Houston Chronicle, where they investigated local and state government issues. Chase then worked at The Des Moines Register as an investigative and data reporter, winning awards for their series on air pollution monitoring. Chase later joined Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting as the Director of Technology, leading their data journalism and website engineering teams. During their time there, they uncovered a money laundering scheme and built interactive projects, including an iPhone app for assessing seismic safety in public schools. Chase also had stints at The New York Times as the Editor of Interactive News, where they led a team of developer/journalists and pioneered new story forms. Chase co-founded Hot Type Consulting, providing web development and strategic consulting services to media clients, and played a key role in building and launching the Texas Tribune. Currently, Chase is serving as the Vice President of Newsroom Strategy and Transformation at Star Tribune, where they focus on digital initiatives, content strategy, and inclusive hiring practices. Chase is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri.
Chase Davis obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they studied from 2001 to 2006.
