Jon Liechty is senior vice president, U.S. Retail Operations, leading Starbucks company-operated retail stores in the Northeast, New York Metro, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. He partners with Starbucks regional vice presidents to grow Starbucks partners and business while uplifting the everyday for customers.
Jon started his career with Starbucks as a teenage barista in downtown Seattle in 1999 and has held a number of progressive leadership roles in U.S. operations and operations services over the next decade. In 2013, he began a new role leading retail operations across Starbucks Asia Pacific Region while based in Hong Kong and Seattle, supporting the development of some of the company’s fastest growing markets. In 2015, he became director of operations for India for the TATA Starbucks Joint Venture in Mumbai, and in 2016 became vice president, Operations – Asia Pacific.
From 2018-2020, he was vice president, Operations Innovation to transform customer interactions in Starbucks U.S. business. He continued to lead the operations innovation function through the early COVID-19 pandemic, accelerating technology and equipment solutions to unlock new channels and helping to establish new operating models to enable partners to more safely deliver connection with customers. He also led Starbucks collaboration with local, state, and federal entities working to accelerate COVID vaccine delivery in early 2021.
Most recently, he served as vice president of Siren Retail, leading the Starbucks Reserve brand and business, and opening the new one-of-a-kind Starbucks Reserve at the Empire State Building in New York City.
Jon graduated summa cum laude with a degree in philosophy from Arizona State University through the Starbucks College Achievement Plan. He enjoys reading the classics over and over, bingeing the latest prestige television, watching Formula 1, and going on adventures with his family. Jon’s favorite coffee is Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building Microblend.
