John Bresnahan

John Bresnahan has a diverse and extensive work experience. John started their career at Argonne National Laboratory in 1998, where they worked on the Nimbus Project as a Senior Software Developer. During this time, they also contributed to the Globus Project as a Senior Scientific Programmer, where they designed and developed GridFTP, a software that facilitated high-speed wide-area data transfer.

In 2012, John joined Red Hat as a Senior Software Engineer, where they became heavily involved in the open-source community. John worked on the OpenStack component Glance and played a key role in designing and implementing a virtual machine image propagation service. John also integrated GlusterFS with OpenStack Nova, reviewed patches for inclusion into the code base, and contributed to the development of OpenStack releases.

After their time at Red Hat, John joined Dell in 2013 as a Principal Engineer. In this role, they designed and created a distributed and highly scalable system for controlling virtual machines and Docker containers within infrastructure clouds. John also led a team of developers responsible for implementing a Linux agent in Python and a Windows agent in C#.

Lastly, John worked at Stardog Union from 2016. As a Senior Software Engineer, they led the Stardog Cloud team and was responsible for creating a full customer-facing Stardog managed service. This involved designing and writing infrastructure components using technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform, and Python services.

John Bresnahan obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University from 1992 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science at the University of Chicago from 2003 to 2006.
