Mark Juravic

Mark Juravic has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mark is currently serving as the VP of R&D at Starlight Cardiovascular since October 2020.

Previously, Mark founded Materna Medical in 2010, a medical device company focused on addressing unmet clinical needs in women's health. During their tenure, they served as the Founder and later took on the role of COO/CTO and Board Member. Mark successfully raised $4.3M in private financing and secured $2.2M in non-dilutive grant funding from the NIH. Mark managed a multidisciplinary team and oversaw various aspects of the company's operations including technical, financial, clinical, regulatory, marketing, and sales. Mark also developed and maintained relationships with key opinion leaders in the industry. Under their leadership, Materna Medical launched two products, Materna Prep and Milli, with the latter being a direct-to-consumer device that generated over $500,000 in revenue.

Before Materna Medical, Mark held the role of Vice President of Research and Development at Puracath Medical in 2013. Mark also worked as an R&D, Clinical, and Marketing Consultant at Pelvalon in 2012.

In the earlier stages of their career, Mark gained extensive experience in the medical field. Mark served as a Research Engineer/Project Lead at MAQUET Cardiovascular (Guidant Corp) from 2006 to 2010 and as an R&D Engineer at GUIDANT LLC C/O BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORPORATION from 2002 to 2006. Mark has also worked as a Graduate Research Associate at Advanced Tissue Sciences in 2001 and as a Teachers Assistant in Physics at UC San Diego from 2000 to 2001.

Mark's early career involved working as an Associate Researcher at Good Samaritan Medical Center/Phoenix VA from 1999 to 2000.

Mark Juravic attended Stanford University in 2007, where they completed a Biodesign Innovation Course. From 2000 to 2002, they pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Bioengineering at UC San Diego. Prior to that, from 1997 to 1999, Mark obtained their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in Bioengineering from Arizona State University.
