Laurence N.

Laurence N. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. They currently work as a Business Analyst at STARLIMS, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this, Laurence was self-employed starting in 2014, offering writing and editing services through their own business called Creative Contributions. During this time, they assisted in editing and marketing a substantial manuscript on product pricing, and also wrote short stories, poetry/lyrics, memoirs, and science fiction.

From 2018 to 2021, Laurence worked at Absorption Systems, a Pharmaron company, in various roles. As the LIMS Administrator/Scientific Writer, they were responsible for implementing their facility's transition to digital study-data recording and providing staff training and troubleshooting. They also wrote GLP and non-GLP reports, protocols, and amendments, as well as SOPs and LIMS tutorials. Laurence later took on the role of Account Manager and then Assistant Scientific Writer, where they collaborated with different teams to draft reports, protocols, and SOPs, and analyzed and presented data. They also worked as a Research Associate, gaining experience in laboratory procedures and data collection.

In 2011, Laurence worked as a Staff Writer for the San Diego Reader, where they had an article published as the cover story. They also had previous experience as an Enumerator for the U.S. Census Bureau in 2010, conducting interviews with citizens who did not mail in their census forms. Prior to that, they worked as a Security Officer for Valor Security Services in Las Vegas in 2008, where they gained skills in liability protection, customer service, loss prevention, and crisis intervention.

Subsequently, Laurence returned to UC San Diego from 2015 to 2017 to pursue an additional Bachelor's degree in the same field.
