Mark Porter is a Human Resources executive with over 30 years of experience in a variety of organizations in Canada and the UK.
Mark recently retired from WestJet where he held the role of Executive Vice-President, People and Culture for almost seven years. His focus during this period of time has been to continue to build on the foundations of exceptional people and leadership that are the cornerstones of WestJet’s vision, culture and ongoing success. As EVP, Mark drove the airline’s cultural initiatives, performance management, learning and career development, workforce planning and helped to develop a collaborative employee relations environment.
Mark’s passion for human resources was born from working at Bombardier as an aircraft engineer and seeing the need for training and development. After pursuing his HR diploma and an MBA in Applied General Management from the University of Sussex (UK), he was accepted at Bombardier as a HR Business Partner.
Before joining WestJet, Mark’s career included work at Canadian companies such as Molson Coors and Shaw Communications, where he was Chief People Officer at Molson Canada and Senior Vice President of Human Resources with Shaw Communications for almost a decade.
