Richard (Rick) Mills is a Senior Counsel at Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, specializing in estate planning, trust and estate administration, and charitable gift planning. Recognized as a "Rising Star" in probate and estate planning from 2013 to 2018 and as a "Super Lawyer" since 2019, Rick serves as the Incoming Board Chair for the Jackson Community Foundation and holds multiple leadership roles, including Secretary of the Probate and Estate Planning Council for the State Bar of Michigan and Chair of the RPTE Law Section Charitable Planning and Organizations Group for the American Bar Association. Additionally, Rick is an Associate Editor for the Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal, a guest lecturer at Michigan State University, and has extensive experience in legal education as an adjunct instructor. Rick holds a Juris Doctor (Magna Cum Laude) and an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy, a Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas College, and a certificate in Nonprofit Board Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
