Bernadette Bato-Pichay

Bernadette Bato-Pichay, PMP, has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades in the insurance industry. Bernadette started their career at the State Compensation Insurance Fund in 1990 as a Worker's Compensation Claims Adjuster, where they managed a large caseload and received the Corporate Excellence award for their outstanding performance. Bernadette then moved on to become a Policy Analyst Supervisor from 1993 to 1997.

In 1998, Bernadette transitioned to project management roles at the same company. Bernadette started as an Associate Project Lead and gradually progressed to a Staff Project Lead, where they managed medium to complex projects involving systems analysis and development. During this time, they also developed testing criteria and plans and supervised staff responsible for development. From 2007 to 2014, they took on the role of Senior Project Manager, where they orchestrated the analysis, design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide systems. Bernadette also mentored new project managers and business analysts and facilitated effective communication between technical teams and end-users.

In 2014, Bernadette took on a leadership position as the IT Claims Application Development Manager at the State Compensation Insurance Fund. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the development of claims applications and ensuring the efficient operation of claims systems. Currently, Bernadette serves as the VP of Claims Systems Engineering, a position they assumed in July 2022.

Bernadette Bato-Pichay, PMP, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, which they obtained from 1986 to 1990. Bernadette also holds a Paralegal Certificate from California State University - East Bay, which they completed from 1989 to 1990. In 2010, Bernadette received their Project Management Credential, the PMP, from the Project Management Institute. In addition to these qualifications, they have an additional certification as a Project Management Professional.
