Florida Auditor General
Mark Hays, MAcc, currently serves as a Senior Auditor at the Florida Auditor General since January 2017, where responsibilities include conducting operational audits to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations. Previously, Mark held the position of Auditor within the same organization, performing similar duties. Prior to this role, experience includes serving as a Cashier at Publix since September 2007, recognized for exceptional customer service and training new employees, and working as a Draw Auditor for the Florida Lottery from June 2015 to December 2016, focusing on the reliability of game outcomes. Additionally, Mark was a Tax Staff member at Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. from January 2015 to December 2016, preparing various tax forms for clients. Mark holds a Master's Degree in Accounting specializing in Taxation, a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance, and an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies, all from Florida State University, along with a high school diploma from Lawton Chiles High School.

Florida Auditor General
As the State’s independent external auditor, the Auditor General provides unbiased, timely, and relevant information that the Legislature, Florida’s citizens, public entity management, and other stakeholders can use to promote government accountability and stewardship and improve government operations. We perform both financial and performance audits for all public colleges and universities, 67 district school boards, all state agencies, and other audits, as requested by the Legislature. As of October 31, 2020, our professional staff included 160 Certified Public Accountants, 15 Certified Information Systems Auditors, and 15 Certified Fraud Examiners located in 15 offices throughout the State.
