Tahira Holmes has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations and roles. Tahira has most recently worked at the State of Maryland as the Education and Workforce Lead for the Department of Service and Civic Innovation. In this role, they oversee the Service Year Option for high school graduates and manages programs related to service and volunteerism statewide.

Prior to their current role, Tahira worked at Prince George's County Public Schools as an Instructional Coach. Tahira supported professional educators across multiple campuses, analyzed data, and developed solutions to foster individual and team growth. Tahira also served as an English and Special Education Teacher during their time at the school district.

Tahira's earlier experience includes working as an English Teacher at District of Columbia Public Schools and as a Program Manager at Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund.

Tahira Holmes attended the University of Maryland, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. Tahira completed their undergraduate studies in 2008. Following this, they enrolled at Notre Dame of Maryland University and obtained a Master of Education degree in Leadership and Teaching. Tahira finished their graduate studies in 2021.
