Vadim Makarenko has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Vadim is currently the Director of Research Digital at Statista, where they lead the Digital Department within the Editorial Research Intelligence division. In this role, they are responsible for conducting research and creating reports on global technology, telecoms, media, advertising, gaming, internet, and social media industries.

Prior to their current position, Vadim worked at Gazeta Wyborcza for over two decades. During this time, they held multiple roles, including product manager in the science section and host of the Jutronauci podcast. Vadim also served as the project editor for Jutronauci (Tomorrownauts), a project that focuses on extraordinary individuals with remarkable achievements across various fields. Additionally, Vadim was a Product Manager for Data & Tech Journalism and the publisher and editor of BIQdata, the first data journalism website in Poland.

In 2020, Vadim briefly worked as a Consultant for OSCE and Internews. Vadim also served as a Consultant for Albany Associates from 2018 to 2019. In 2016, they were a Product Owner at Sonar, contributing to product development.

Furthermore, Vadim has academic experience as an associate at the Institute of Journalism at the University of Warsaw from 2002 to 2014. Vadim began their career as an account executive at J.J.R. Eberta from 1996 to 1998.

Vadim Makarenko has a strong educational background in communication and media studies. In 1997, they received their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from the University of Warsaw. Later, in 2007, they were a fellow at Seoul National University where they focused on Mass Communication/Media Studies. In 2013, Vadim attended the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford as a journalist fellow, specializing in Communication and Media Studies. Additionally, they obtained certification in Data Driven Journalism from the European Journalism Centre in July 2014. With their diverse educational experiences, Vadim demonstrates a commitment to furthering their knowledge and expertise in the field of journalism.
