Dr Joe M Das

Dr Joe M Das has a diverse work experience in the field of neurosurgery. Dr Joe started their career as a Senior Resident in Neurosurgery at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram in 2009 and worked there until 2015. Dr Joe then pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Skull Base Neurosurgery at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in 2016. In 2017, Dr Das became a Consultant Neurosurgeon at College of Medical Sciences Bharatpur. Dr Joe worked there until 2019, during which they also served as a Senior Specialty Registrar in Neurosurgery at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 2019 to 2020. Dr Das then worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust from 2020 to 2021. Dr Joe continued to advance their career as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Bahrain Specialist Hospital from 2021 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Clinical Fellow in Spine Surgery at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust starting from 2023. Dr Joe M Das also has editorial experience, serving as the Editor In Chief at StatPearls.com since 2018.

Dr. Joe M Das obtained their Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr Joe then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in General Surgery through the General Surgery Residency Program at the same institution. Later on, Dr. Das specialized in Neurosurgery and completed a Magister Chirurgiae (MCh) degree in Neurosurgery also from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Das has obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. These include a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery from Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, completed in September 2021. Dr Joe also attained the FRCSEd Neurosurgery certification from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in October 2018, and the DNB Neurosurgery certification from the National Board of Examinations in September 2018.

Dr. Das has further expanded their skills through a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Skull Base Neurosurgery at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, completed in May 2017. Dr Joe has also obtained the MRCS certification from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in November 2011.

In terms of additional professional certifications, Dr. Das has completed the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course from ATLS India in February 2010. Dr Joe has also obtained the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Experienced Provider (ACLS) certification and the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification from the Americal Heart Association in May 2019.
