Michael Stewart

Director of Product Development at Steelhead Composites

Michael Stewart has worked in a variety of roles across multiple companies since 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they were a Materials Engineer at Composite Technology Development, where they assisted proposal writing efforts for SBIR/STTR grant topics and synthesized and optimized unique resin chemistries for electrical insulation of superconductors. From 2008 to 2011, they were a Graduate Research Fellow at NIST, where they correlated release rates of silver nanoparticles from ceramic surfaces to varying water chemistry, and established written laboratory procedures for specimen preparation and for scanning electron microscopy (SEM). From 2011 to 2013, they were a Traveling WASH Engineer for various non-profit organizations, where they reviewed Quality Control (QC) procedures and drafted a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plan. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Caretaker at Finca de la Tierra. Finally, from 2014 to present, they have been the Director of Product Development and Product Development Manager at Steelhead Composites - Hydrogen Storage Solutions, where they manage multiple projects simultaneously under ISO9001 and AS9100 product realization guidelines, defines performance metrics for products based on customer requirements and internal capabilities, and assesses technical feasibility, financial scope, and timeline as part of pre-planning for potential contracts.

Michael Stewart attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Master's degree in Engineering for Developing Communities. Prior to that, they attended Colorado State University from 1998 to 2003, where they earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Math, and Spanish.
