Shamik Ray

Process Engineer Consultant - Operating Technology & Innovation at STELCO

Shamik Ray has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Shamik started their career in 1989 at SAIL as a Deputy Manager and worked there until 1999. Shamik then pursued higher education and joined McGill University as a Graduate Research Assistant from April 2004 to September 2009. Following that, Shamik worked at McMaster University as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow from October 2009 to April 2011.

In 2011, Shamik joined Natural Resources Canada, CanmetENERGY, where they served as a Research Engineer from May 2011 to February 2015 and later as a Research Scientist from February 2015 to June 2017. Shamik then transitioned to Algoma in June 2017 as a Manufacturing Technology Associate, specializing in Steelmaking & Casting, and worked until October 2018.

Since October 2018, Shamik has been employed at STELCO - The Steel Company of Canada. Shamik initially held the role of Process Specialist in Operating Technology & Innovation and then advanced to become a Process Engineer Consultant in the same department in March 2022.

Following that, Shamik Ray continued their education at McGill University, where they obtained a PhD in Process Metallurgy from 2006 to 2009.
