David Smerza

David Smerza is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in functional safety, systems engineering, and project management within the automotive industry. Currently serving as the NA Functional Safety Team Manager at Stellantis since January 2022, David previously held various key roles at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, where responsibilities included managing global teams for Functional Safety, Cyber Security, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. David's career also includes positions at A123 Systems, TRW, and Cobasys, where expertise ranged from hybrid powertrain safety to the development of lithium-ion battery systems. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and an Associate's degree in Engineering from Schoolcraft College.
